Improving welfare services and promoting invaluable resources
In 2024, we began an exciting new partnership with India’s Directorate of Shipping to support the health, wellbeing and safety of India’s seafarers, cadets and their families.
This reflects a long-term commitment by both parties to improving lives at sea and on shore by strengthening welfare services, offering support and resources and enhancing the overall safety standards of the Indian maritime sector.
The partnership, in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), allows the Directorate to benefit from Sailors’ Society’s global expertise and the collaboration aims to ensure more robust welfare systems, particularly in mental health support, crisis management and education.

To improve welfare services at Indian ports and for Indian seafarers worldwide, India’s seafarers and cadets are encouraged to access Sailors’ Society’s:

24/7 Helpline
Providing round-the-clock assistance to India’s seafarers facing challenges at sea or in port.

Crisis Response Network
Giving immediate support in emergencies or unforeseen difficulties.

The MyWellnesse e-Learning App
On and offline educational and training resources to support career development and safety.

Peer-to-Peer Support Groups
A network for seafarers to connect, share experiences, and provide mutual assistance.

Cadet and Rating Conferences
Platforms for the professional development of young maritime talent and those pursuing careers in the industry.
