Wellness at Sea Maritime Schools' Conference India - we are LIVE!

3 Aug, 2022

Today, Sailors' Society held the first of our Wellness at Sea Maritime Schools' Conferences 2022.

More than 1,600 cadets from 21 Indian and Sri Lankan maritime colleges came online to hear from some of the top experts in maritime wellness and mental health.

The virtual event focused on key and current issues facing cadets today, including crisis and diversity, and drew on material from Sailors’ Society’s pioneering wellness training and support programme.

With diversity and women in maritime a key issue for the future, the Keynote Speaker at the conference was Mrs H.K. Joshi - Chairwoman, Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).

Among the other subjects tackled in this day-long event was the psychology of conflict: being a seafarer in a time of war, how the maritime landscape is changing: the role of technology in wellbeing and welfare, and how to get a job in a tough industry: tips from a manning agent.

We recognised that today's cadets are tomorrow's workforce and future leaders and so designed the conference content was designed exclusively with cadets in mind, helping to equip them for their future seafaring lives.

Huge thanks to our gold sponsors Inmarsat, technical partners UK P&I Club and bronze sponsors (India event) Fleet Management Ltd for their support.
