Safe, seen and supported – Sailors’ Society’s acclaimed Wellness at Sea conferences are back for their fifth year

Registrations are now open for Sailors’ Society’s 2025 Wellness at Sea Conferences for cadets, ratings and trainees.

This year, the four regionally based virtual events – ‘Safe, seen, supported – seafaring in a changing world’ – will focus on connectivity at sea and how it is shaping and influencing seafarers’ lives. It will also examine how crew can support each other through times of depression, anxiety and poor mental health and address bullying and harassment at sea.

The global conferences, now in their fifth year, are being held for the next generation of seafarers from North Asia (covering the Indian subcontinent), Africa, South East Asia (covering the Philippines) and the UK and Europe.

Featuring both international and region-specific maritime industry experts and interactive panels, they attract tens of thousands of cadets, trainees and ratings from across the world and can be viewed on a big screen in the classroom or on individual devices.

Sailors’ Society CEO, Sara Baade, said: “I am delighted that once again Sailors’ Society is able to bring these must-attend events to our next generation of seafarers.

“We have used our vast experience in wellness training and supporting seafarers across the globe to provide speakers and content that naturally complements the existing curriculum. This is a perfect introduction to our Circle of Care for seafarers, as these half-day conferences are packed with information and advice for those starting on their careers at sea.”

Among the keynote regional speakers this year will be India’s Director General of Shipping, Shri Shyam Jaganathan, and the President of Mitsui OSK Lines-Magsaysay Maritime Academy, Dr. Michael C. Morales.

The conferences are being sponsored by Seaspan and Britannia P&I and funded by the TK Foundation.
