Sailors’ Society offers key wellbeing skills to the maritime class of 2024

Maritime cadets from across the world are invited to join the Sailors‘ Society Cadet Conferences 2024: Wellbeing skills for future seafarers.

They will once again be offered a full virtual conference experience exploring the all-important subject of wellness and mental health. Following glowing feedback from cadets, there will also be the usual interactive sessions and practical advice as well as presentations from key regional and global industry leaders and influencers.

More than 6,000 students are expected to attend from maritime schools and colleges in North Asia, South East Asia, Africa and the UK and Europe.

These unique and highly acclaimed events are designed specially by the leading welfare charity for the current intake of cadets, with the focus on key issues facing today’s seafarers.

The TK Foundation is kindly funding the conferences in North Asia, South East Asia and Africa, while the Baltic Exchange Charitable Foundation is funding the UK and Europe event.

Sailors’ Society CEO, Sara Baade, said: “Our 2023 conferences revealed that less than a quarter of that year’s cadets had been to sea. This shows just how important these events are to equip this next generation of seafarers with the wellness skills they need for their future seafaring career.

“Across the continents, these cadets also felt more needed to be done while they are in training to prepare them for the challenges they will face at sea. It’s why these conferences are a must for any maritime student and we are hugely grateful to our funders for helping us to secure these events for cadets across the globe.”

The 2024 conferences will build on the success of the previous three years, with Sailors’ Society partnering again with digital solutions provider FrontM to deliver a full virtual experience, allowing the class of 24 to immerse themselves in a virtual conference centre complete with a lobby, auditorium and exhibition hall with a selection of industry stands.

The conference dates are:

North Asia – August 22

Africa – September 19

South East Asia – October 5

UK and Europe – November 6
