SEAFARERS NEED YOUR PRAYERS
Every year, we join with churches worldwide to celebrate Sea Sunday and this year was no different.
The second Sunday in July is set aside for Sea Sunday, but you can celebrate anytime in the year that suits your church programme
It provides a time to remember the world’s 1.9 million seafarers in prayer, to give thanks for their crucial work and to support them by donating to our ongoing global work providing practical, emotional and spiritual welfare support to crew and their families.
Our 2024 Sea Sunday theme is 'Calming the storm', vitally important in a year where the Red Sea crisis is putting seafarers directly in the path of missiles and piracy attacks.
But while the storms seafarers face can be global like the Red Sea crisis, or the war in Ukraine, record tsunamis and hurricanes and even modern-day piracy, they can also be individual. Sickness, unemployment, bereavement and even the simple stress of being separated from family can be the cause of mental and physical health issues.
But when seafarers face storms in their lives, we are here 24/7 whenever and wherever they need us and our free-to-use resources allow churches to highlight this vital work as part of their worship..
Whether you have two minutes or an entire service to highlight Sea Sunday, we are delighted you are supporting Sailors’ Society, as we help support the world’s seafarers who bring us more than 90 per cent of everything we use and own.
‘Calming the Storm’.
