South East Asia Wellness at Sea Conference sees record registrations yet again

Almost 4,000 cadets, ratings and trainees from South East Asia logged on to the third of Sailors’ Society’s 2025 Wellness at Sea Conferences for the next generation of seafarers.

The virtual event – ‘Safe, seen and supported – seafaring in a changing world’ – featured a keynote address from Dr Michael C Morales, President, MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy.

Sponsored by Britannia P&I Club, the conference showcased both international and regional speakers and covered the key topics of wellbeing and connectivity in maritime and bullying and harassment at sea.

Jacob Damgaard, Head of Loss Prevention at Britannia P&I Club, said: “We were delighted to sponsor the conference this October. Events like these play a vital role in driving conversations about the challenges faced by seafarers today but also highlight the positive aspects which make ships such a unique workplace.

“Supporting initiatives like this aligns with Britannia P&I’s commitment to promoting safety, respect, and wellbeing across the global seafaring industry.”

Sailors’ Society CEO, Sara Baade, added: “These unique events are extremely popular with those embarking on a career at sea because we cover the issues that matter to them.

“The conferences are also interactive, with cadet panellists and opportunities throughout the day for everyone to have their say. And the data gathered from our four 2025 Wellness at Sea Conferences will feature in our 2025/6 Cadet Report, providing a crucial insight for the industry into the minds of these Gen Z seafarers.”

Sailors’ Society’s 2025/6 Cadet Report will be published in the spring next year. The final 2025 Wellness at Sea Conference for cadets, ratings and trainees from the UK and Europe takes place on Thursday, November 20, at 8am UK time.
