Trauma Therapy Grants

Sea Change logo

“I look back and wonder how much more I could have thrived – in my career at sea and in my personal relationships – if only I had been able to access therapy. That is my main motivation for helping to fund these therapy sessions for seafarers.

“Whatever the difficulties or trauma a seafarer has encountered – abandonment, piracy, bullying, harassment or a death on board – if they find themselves struggling with being the best version of themselves that they can be, I want to help them overcome some of the barriers. Life at sea is hard enough – it’s harder still when we face troubles. But help is here.”

Funder of our new trauma therapy grants

Gender or sexuality-based challenges, including bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence while working as a seafarer in the maritime industry, has a profound impact on individuals and often results in long-term trauma.

Our new trauma therapy grants of up to £500 has been funded by an active seafarer, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The grants are to cover counselling costs and are available to female and male seafarers.
