wellness at sea Awareness Campaign

Free wellness resources and support

Refreshed and expanded, our Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign is a free resource available to the maritime industry looking to give crew, their families and shore staff vital tools to look after their own wellbeing and that of those around them

We know that being away at sea can be tough, but those waiting at home and those working in offices supporting shipping operations can also face challenges. Drawing from our award-winning Wellness at Sea programme, this nine -module campaign explores these challenges and provides the tools to navigate them.

Developed as a response to the pandemic and successfully used by more than 70 organisations over the past two years, the campaign has recently been updated with extra content, including podcasts and videos, so we can offer a wealth of resources specially designed for today's maritime world.

The nine modules cover everything from physical and mental wellness to financial concerns and everyday fears such as piracy with easy-to-digest information, with tips in comic strips, posters and activity goals.

We've also introduced ‘huddles’ - discussion points where participants can further explore each topic together.

As well as being packed with resources, the modules signpost users to all the 24/7 support services we offer, from our helpline and Crisis Response Network to our Peer-to-Peer Support groups and free MyWellness app.

The campaign empowers seafarers to improve their health, relationships and general wellbeing at sea, it also encourages the whole maritime family of seafarers, family and shore staff to support one another.

By signing up for our Wellness at Sea Awareness resources, you are not just making a commitment to the health of your crews, but also the safety of your ships and your bottom line. It is a unique opportunity to invest in your workforce and we are excited to embark on this journey with you.

The contents of the Awareness Campaign campaign resource pack will be branded with your company logo and even allows you to incorporate some of your own initiatives under every module heading.

You can download the Awareness Campaign prospectus here.

“A campaign of this nature is something the seafaring community has been crying out for. And while there are many resources available for seafarers, this project goes further by offering a plethora of support to their families and those at shore through the cost-of-living crisis. Mental health and wellbeing are the biggest challenges seafarers face and, as an industry, we need to keep working with new initiatives like this to help break down the barriers, so seafarers are able to talk. We are delighted for the launch of this project and look forward to seeing it thrive.”

Stuart Rivers, Merchant Navy Welfare Board CEO:

“Our partnership with Sailors‘ Society plays a vital role in addressing the pressing issues and challenges our seafarers face every day and we are happy to introduce the Wellness at Sea Awareness Campaign to our clients. We believe that this programme will help empower seafarers to improve their overall health and wellbeing and help them navigate through difficult times”.
